Hello everyone,
My Name is Mitch Knapton, i'm 19 and I live in Sydenham Ontario.(10min. North of Kingston). I have been around boats all my life. I have a cottage North of Madoc, on Weslemkoon Lake. I always enjoyed boating and going fast. So about 2 years ago i decided to build a seaflea. It turned out great and was fun for about a week and i wanted something faster and more of a challenge to drive. A friend of mine has been racing hydro's for a few years and i have always been interested in them so this year i finally decided to buy one. Smiley I have always like the DSH class and more specifically the DMOD Merc's. Those pipes really sing a sweet tune. Smiley I'm shure most of you know Randy Rap, and his hydro that he had for sale, well this is my new boat! Which i can't wait to get in the water, even tho i will now since winter is upon us.

I am excited to join the sport and can't wait to compete. I hope to save up enough to get a motor so i can race this summer but school kinda eats up a good chunk of my funds.

Over this winter, at least, i will try to aquire the saftey gear. So i might be givin' Fralick a call sometime.

I Hope to meet all of of you next year, see you at the races!

Mitch.

Welcome aboard. Always good to see new faces, especially in DSH. Make sure you hook up with that "Old" Keegan guy and you will be in good hands.

Mitch, it's always nice to find new racers, and especially young people with lots of enthusiasm. Welcome to the boat racing family. Join a racing club, you will meet lots of fellow racers who will be willing to help you to get on the water.

Best of luck

Mitch, as you are in Sydenham, you should get to know Doug Overbury DSH/DCH Nat Champ,
who lives there also. His daughter Emily races ASH, and I think you already know Dany Potts, in that area also.
Did you ever get to our races there, last one was '04 if I recall?
Perhaps not a good place to run Dmods, if there are any places left to run them Smiley

Welcome aboard Mitch.

There have been changes to the required safety suits the drivers must wear in recent years and some devices like neck collars and so forth that aren't mandated yet, but are wise options you should be aware of.
Be sure any used gear you buy is legal for todays rules by using this forum for advice, and joining CBF (Canadian Boating Federation) which you will have to do anyway and you'll recieve the current rule book which has all kinds of information as well as the rules.

Join an outboard racing club, come out to their meetings over the winter and you'll learn a lot that will help you be safe and fast!
